Why It’s Worth Attending (Even if You’re Not Running)
Even if you’re not lacing up for the half marathon, Run the Line weekend is still one of the best times to be in downtown Texarkana. There’s music near the finish, familiar faces around every corner, and plenty of clapping and cowbells. Whether you’re there to cheer someone on or just tag along, the energy downtown makes it worth your time. And when the race wraps up, you don’t have to rush off. In fact, that’s when things get even more fun.
1️⃣ Grab a coffee and check out the art.
Start your day with something warm from Alley Cats Coffee Bar, just off the course. Then wander over to the nearby The Gallery at 1894 where you’ll find local art inside one of the city’s oldest downtown buildings. It’s quiet, colorful, and a nice way to ease into the morning after the crowd noise dies down.
2️⃣ Go where the locals eat.
If you’re hungry, head to Hopkins Icehouse near the finish line. It fills up fast after the race, but the burgers, brunch, and cold drinks are well worth it. Just down the road, Fat Jack’s Oyster and Sports Bar offers a laid-back spot to wind down with oysters, wings, or something fried, plus plenty of TVs if you want to catch a game while you eat.
3️⃣ If you haven’t yet, go grab the classic photo.
The State Line Post Office and Courthouse is one of the most photographed spots in Texarkana. You can stand with one foot in Texas and the other in Arkansas, right down the middle of the line. If you wait until later in the day, even just a few hours after the race, you’ll usually have the spot to yourself for a clear shot.
Plan Ahead for a Great Weekend
A good race starts with a good plan. Whether you’re running solo, teaming up for the relay, or just cheering from the sidelines, Run the Line weekend is worth slowing down and making the most of. 👉 Read the full guide and register today for the best race day experience.
