Experience The Texas Side

Texarkana, USA sits right on the state line between Arkansas and Texas, and it’s actually two cities—with two governments, two police departments, two mayors, and one shared life. When you visit, you’ll find plenty worth exploring on both sides of the line.

Things to Do in Texarkana, Texas

A symphony performs on the Perot Theatre stage

Perot Theatre

Start with the Perot Theatre if there's a show in town. This Saenger theatre was built in 1924 and lovingly restored in the 1980s thanks to a generous donation from Ross Perot and his sister Bette in honor of their parents. It draws touring productions, concerts, and special events that pull audiences from across the four-states area. It's also home to the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra. Check the calendar before you book your trip—a Perot night is a good reason to make the drive.

Museum of Regional History

Texarkana's Museum of Regional History is housed in the historic Offenhauser & Co. building in downtown Texarkana, right across the state line. Exhibits touch on Hotel Grim, a replica of Congressman Wright Patman's office, and a deep dive on Scott Joplin, the "Father of Ragtime" who was born here. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for kids, with discounts for seniors, veterans, and AAA members. Texarkana souvenirs are available in the gift shop.

Bringle Lake & Spring Lake Park

Bringle Lake Park sits near Texas A&M University-Texarkana and packs in a lot: walking and bike trails, fishing, kayaking, and playgrounds. It's also home to alligators, which is either a selling point or a warning depending on who you ask. Spring Lake Park features a walking trail around the pond, baseball and soccer fields, a dog park, frisbee golf, and an outdoor fitness area.

Two States. One Trip.

Texarkana is one of the few places in the country where you can genuinely say you did two states in a weekend. The state line runs right through downtown, and a lot of visitors can’t keep track of whether they’re in Texas or Arkansas at any given time.
